Fish caught in private lakes shouldn't be eligible to be a state record.  And a Yankees fan shouldn't be eligible to hold any state records.

the WORLD record was ~75 pounds for a very long time, until that was shattered earlier this year...
65 pounds is absolutely incredible for New England!!

Most of the fish in that place are from other lakes and the ct river.
I have a friend that lives there and stocks it with bass and pike from other areas.I would be more imperssed if that lake was never drained and it was a carp that was naturally there not one that has been dumped in there by another angler.Like PECo mentioned,private lakes should be in a record class of their own.Same goes for record fish that come out of reservoirs where you need permits to fish.Let see a fish that size come out of a public body of water like the monsters in the lower and upper Housy.try 60-80 lb grass carp ovet 4 feet long.

Sure looks like a grass carp to me. And if i'm not mistaken, there is no record category for grass carp. Theyre stocked for vegetation control and, despite the name grass carp, they're a completely different species than the common carp. They can grow to be absolutely enourmous, as avidangler said, 60-80lbs and 4ft long, and they're known to go airborne upon hookup.
About the "record", i'm assuming it was killed for all this, and if that the case thats a damn shame. Beautiful fish

They should have two records then, same as a rainbow trout and brown trout, two different species, two different record titles. Grass carp should have a title and same as common carp. Im no carp fisherman but a fish that big is something to be proud of. |

I agree with Avidangler and Justin. Just from the olive color and shape, that fish is a grass carp.
I've caught grass carp that were stocked in small ponds for vegetation control. They seem more aggressive than the common carp. |

That fish did look sort of different to me, but I don't know enough about carp to say that it was a different species. I believe that it's actually a grass carp, and that sure is a shame if it becomes a new record.

If anyone is interested in grass carp try the Housy.Go down river past the Merrit parkway and there is an island just below it.on the left of the island there is a cove that is difficult to enter at low tide but,that is where i have seen MONSTER grass carp in the 60-80 lb catagory.just watch your approach to the cove entrance .Because of the sandbar on the north end of the island it is easier to enter from the south end of the island.I have also found stripers and bunker in there during the summer.

It is a grass carp and it is too bad that those 2 idiots killed it. Its a nice and strong fish to fight especially in that size but it should not be in the same category with the common carp. Those 2 kidz did a good job fighting it but its a shame that they did not release it.
