Saturday I headed down to Seaside Park. High for Bridgeport was scheduled for 4:50pm and started off at the Fayerweather jetty just before 3pm. Setup was the Procyon/Sargus.
Lures I played with as I made my way out to Fayerweather included pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-10, glass ghost Clackin Minnow CNM-11, shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, and blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10. Nothing was interested on both sides of the jetty.
Made it out to the island and also tried throwing a chrome Skitter Pop SP-9. Saw a school of smaller baitfish on the edge of weeds with an occasional splash. Problem was the weeds without having waders on. No other signs of life as I made my way around Fayerweather.
Started heading back towards shore as I made a few stops on the jetty. While casting in one spot I saw a few tail swipe splashes to my right. Went there and started casting but never saw any more splashes.
Next stop was the rocky stretch. Not even a sea robin.
Got over to Breezy Point to find many chunkers throwing mackerel and bunker and 1 person throwing squid. Other than 1 fluke on squid and 1 taylor on bunker, everything else was a sea robin. I never got into anything.
Went to Remington to find a few chunkers who weren't into anything. I didn't get a single hit.
Headed back over to the cannon and Breezy Point to give it a few more tries before calling it a day around 7pm. |

The weather is killing it. I haven't even bothered going out in the past week. |
