I got mine in Goshen. It was an 11 pounder. Looked just like the one in the picture at the top of the page. It was 27 inches long. Haven't gotten to put up the pictures yet.

Yes, it was in a lake. I hear they threw 7 to 10 of them in Tyler lake this year.

So how has the seaforellen browns come about? Natural cross breading I hope. Just want to be sure these are not genetic mutations from our friends at Monsanto.

Hi,

Just an FYI:
Seeforellen Brown Trout originated in alpine lakes of Bavaria, Germany.
They are a very voracious strain of brown trout and can get quite large.
Some states did stock them at first but found that this strain wrecked terrible havoc on local native strains of trout so they stopped stocking them.

Pretty sure the state stocked Seeforellen's in east/west twin lakes due to the alewife problem.

Saugatuck is a good spot to hit them, got a 9, almost 10, pounder out of there a few years ago

Jimbo- that's probably why. I met an older gentlemen yesterday at the brook by Willard and had a hard time convincing him that the hatchery is still in fact open.

From what one of the DEEP employees at the site and guide told me late this summer, the state is abandoning the salmon program as they are just not sustainable, but the trout will continue there.
