Hello Everyone. I'm from South Windsor and I love fishing, but I haven't fished much in this area. I'm a shore fisher. I used to go to Valley Falls, with no results except sun fish. Now I've been going to Crystal Lake. Seems to be some good fishing there but it's always wicked crowded and it's pretty far from me, about a 40 minute drive. Anyone know of anyplace in South Windsor or the neighboring towns that's good for fishing?

Eh. There's a short list of good shore fishing. Don't waste your time at union pond in Manchester. There's a few good spots on the hockonum but I haven't had luck there. Middle and upper Bolton lakes are ok. I go to keeney cove in Glastonbury as much as possible. There's always some kind of fish there, crappie, carp, channel cats, catfish, bass, pike, bowfin. Some interesting characters down there but everyone is nice enough

Hi AerithHojo,

I am also a shore fisherman from South Windsor.

If you want to fish for brook trout or rainbow trout then the Hockanum River in Manchester is a great spot. A nice ultralight pole with 4 lb line will do you just fine.

If you want to go for what ever bites, then Wethersfield cove is not a bad spot either. Catfish, bowfin, stripers, pike, and the likes can be caught from there.

Also there are some decent fishing spots on the CT River at Great River Park in East Hartford. I usually catch catfish, schoolie stripers, white perch, and carp from that area with night crawlers or sand worms.

What type of fish do you want to catch and what type of rod and reel do you have?
