Im heading out to squantz tonight through the storm and rain. Hopefully we will see a break midway but were expecting to fish in this rain. Going for walleye and trout, shiners and nightcrawlers. Wish me luck! I'll report today or tomorrow. |

Agreed! Litchfield and new Milford are getting hit hardest. The Stevenson Dam is wide open to relieve water levels. All the water comes through the Squanz/Candy area,
Good Luck. _________________ Don't hold your farts in! They travel up your spine to your brain and thats where shitty ideas come from. |

Oops shouldve said from shore! Well my friend Chris and I started off by getting there at 7:45ish with little to no rain. At about 8:30 Chris caught a bass about a pound and a half or so on a crawfish pattern rapala type lure. I put my two rods out with a egg sinker on bottom and a swivel connected to two and a half feet of 6lb leader with a 1/0 octopus circle hook at about 8:15 and had something play around with it and steal the minnow. I sent another minnow out and sat under our canopy tent thing with a mini fire and we started chatting. At about 9:10 I said to chris "I think my eyes playing tricks on me but let me check that rod just in case". As i took a few steps over i could hear the drag screaming. Tightened up the drag and started reeling in something i knew was big. Felt like eternity but was probably 5 or so minutes. Chris netted the beast, we brought her to shore and started doing measurements and taking data as such. Female, full of eggs, no scars, 22 1/2'', 3.83-4.11lbs (scale was fluctuating), very healthy fish. I almost forgot what a walleye looked like since its been so long. The pictures are fuzzy because of the rain but this is probably the clearest.
Continued fishing and put out one more rod with a minnow but the rain started in again and didnt show mercy. At about 9:40 we decided it was time. We packed everything up and carried the canopy over our heads all the way back to the car. Soaked and sore, we were happy with out few hours of fishing. First time out for walleye this year and already got a keeper. May be at it again (possibly tomorrow if i can convince me dad ). |

Forgot to mention, water temp (to the touch) felt about high 50's low 60's. Air temp was mid 50's. Barometric pressure was 29.67 and dropping when i left the house. The walleye hit just before the heavier rain started kicking in. |
