Planned to be on the water at 6:00am but my buddy forgot to purchase 2 stroke oil so we had to go shopping before we fished. Not much open at 6:00am but we did manage to find a tackle shop that opened at 6:30 and they had 2 stroke oil. What's the chances of that. LOL

On the water at 7:30am. Went straight to 3rd bay. Started with top water and only had one small blow up the first half hour. Thinking it wasn't going to be a very productive day I switched to a whacky rigged Senko in plain pumpkin color. No glitter. Two and a half hours later and 12 bass (20 between the two of us) The morning turned out to be productive. One 4+lb was taken. The rest were keepers ranging from 1.5 to 3 pounds.

All the fish were caught around docks and rocks in about 5 to 12 feet of water. Picked up a couple hanging out on beds. Most likely males still protecting the babies.

I even used P-Line Fluorocarbon #10lb and had absolutely no break issues at all. Stuff worked fantastic. Even when I forgot to reset my drag the P-Line still held up.

Now for the kicker. When your water skiing who in their right mind would pass a 22' Ranger with a 225HP between us and shore with only 25 feet between. Then the skier decides to do a fancy maneuver and get us both soaked. Then the real kick in the arse is the idiot driving the boat decides to pull right in front of us with the skier directly in front of the bow about 15 feet away at 40mph. We just stopped dead in the water to give the idiots some distance.

Idots on boats simply fascinate me. Parents really need to monitor their children when allowing them to use their boats. If the idiot dumped in front of us the 225hp Merc would have mutilated the idiot.

The water started getting busy at 11:00am. We were off the water by 1pm. I need to grab a video camera and record pleasure boaters launching and leaving the launch. Almost saw one fist fight between two boaters on the water at the launch. One idiot allowed his children about 6/7 years of age jump off the boat with numerous boats launching and even more waiting to leave. It would make for some really good You Tube videos.

Nice report. Highland Lake is an accident waiting to happen. I haven't been there since 2011 just because its such heavy boat traffic and there are some real idiots there. Did you stop at the Tackle shop in Winchester down the road from Highland? I once drove 45 mins to get there and forgot my whole tackle box lol. Had to make a quick stop there.

That's where we stopped. Thank God they opened at 6:30. Unless it's an event I have to fish I'll never go there on a weekend again. Unfortunately my next event is there next Sunday. We'll be on by 6 and off by noon or maybe earlier pending idiots.
