That all depends on what style/technique you wish to fish with it.
Drop Shot, Whacky, Top Water, Spinner, Jig ect.
That's why rods are labeled Fast, Medium Fast, Medium Heavy ect.
Medium Fast rods I feel are the most diverse but will struggle with Jig Fishing. I prefer Wright McGill Skeet Reese in the med/fast design. But prefer Mojo Sticks for Jig Fishing.
