|
|
Fished the Connecticut River last night in the Hartford area and did pretty well.
First i got a 28' Catfish
Then about a hour later a 30 inch Striper
and then when i was getting read to leave i hooked into this beast
my First Bowfin, Ive never seen such an aggressive fish before. He must have been snapped off someones line because he had a hook down his throat and a leader sticking out of his mouth but still took a chunk that was about 1/4th his own size. I took my hook out and cut the leader as low as i could an released him. _________________ catch/picture/release |

Pretty cool smorgasbord there! What would you compare the fight of that Bowfin to? _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

The bowfin jumped out of the water right after i first hooked him, ive never seen anything like that there before. then when i got him out of the water he was going crazy i almost had to just cut the line because of his teeth, I was using cut bait _________________ catch/picture/release

Sounds like a great day! Grats on your first bowfin - i'll never forget the first one i caught. Caught mine in Keeney Cove fishing with a popper. At first i didnt know what it was because it was going wild when i pulled it in and couldnt get a good look at it until it settled down. |

Awesome fish man. I would compare a bowfin to a powerful pickerel. Bowfin are one of the most aggressive fish I've ever caught. _________________ Steve |

Those teeth are nothing compare to bluefish. I had 50lb leader snapped all the time with bluefish. _________________ Something smells fishy. |
