I fished from 8pm to around 11pm last night. Btw I tried Sunday mid morning as well. Anyway on both trips I fished sandworms on a fishfinder rig. All I could manage with either trip were tiny micro stripers. Like freaking 10 inches. Not sure what I could do different to land a keeper but if you have input I'll take it.

I've been fishing that area for years, and have actually had pretty good luck this year. Are you fishing from shore or from a boat? If from shore then I can't be too much help because I really don't know the access points, but from a boat there are quite a few spots that have been productive.

I would try drifting the channel from the Rocky Hill launch to south of Petzold's marina with live eels. Rig them up either weightless or under a large bobber. 7/0 circle hooks have worked best for me on 25# braid with 3' of 30lb flourocarbon leader.

Particular hotspots to be aware of are the abandoned large vessel docks on the west shore of the river just south of the Rocky Hill Ferry and the channel marker on the east side of the river just south of Gildersleeve island. The large vessel docks hold a ton of baitfish due to all of the debris, and the area just south of Gildersleeve Island is a large depth change and converging currents where the stripers will hang out and gorge themselves.

To the contrary, I wish I was from the area so I could help with shore access points!

On topic, If I were to be fishing from shore I would probably try a fishfinder rig (sinker slide) with a 6 or 8 OZ sinker and a live eel. The trick here is to hit bottom and not have your line bounce back to shore. Alternatively you could do a 3-way rig, but with a weight this size a finicky striper will feel that and drop the bait.

I was shore fishing but I do have a kayak. I will try those spots next chance I get. Thanks for the advice!!!!
