My mom just got back from her Cape Cod cottage and brought home a small fillet of smoked bluefish with black pepper topped on it. She said it was already prepared so all I needed to do was put it in the microwave.
Best fish I have EVER had!!! DELICIOUS!!!! I could have EASILY finished 3 or 4 of them!!!!!
My mom got it at a Cape fish market in Dennisport. Said the price is expensive at $16 a pound! She said smoked bluefish is very common in fish markets and seafood restaurants in the Cape.
Ever tried smoked bluefish already prepared from a fish market where all you have to do is reheat it? |

I have smoked Bluefish at home and it was good. My neighbor's son loved it as well. Bluefish caught near and around the Cape are not as oily as those caught in the Sound, from what I have found. |

I am not a fan of bluefish at all. BUT, I remember years ago during the summer my friends father would smoke it and serve it with a little dijon mustard on crackers. He would mix it up like you would tuna and mayo. Sounds weird but it was actually quite tasty. |

My brother smokes bluefish all of the time. Oily fish smoke better than less oily (less fishy) fish. Smoked and vacuum sealed, you can have fresh tasting fish year round. I, of course, hate to eat fish. Go figure. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

Does anyone have a recipe for making smoked bluefish?
I've got a smoker, plus catching blues is a piece of cake.

When I was a kid my neighbor used to smoke pounds of bluefish fillets and would bring a plate over to my house after is was smoked.
I agree that smoked blues are some of the best tasting fish i've ever had, the meat tasted like bacon!! _________________ Got em!! |

With my sensitive taste buds, I could still taste some of that fishy flavor to go with the smoked flavor, which gave it a tasty kick. That's what really made it taste so DELICIOUS! |
