Site member gkolyagin (aka Genna) and I headed out to the Reef before sunrise hoping for the early morning bite. High for Black Rock Harbor was scheduled for 5:44am and we got to the Reef around 4:15am.
Genna threw pencil poppers, SP Minnows, and a Bomber Long A while I threw Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-12, Max Rap MXR-17, MXR-15, and Flat Rap FLR-16.
Both of us never got a single hit or swirl.
Once it was after sunrise and the tide started turning, we headed over to Remington.
As we made our way out we were seeing a few swirls on the surface by what seemed to be sea robins. Genna was throwing the SP Minnow and I was throwing a pearl grey shiner FLR-16. I set the hook and land a sea robin that had to be 3 or 4 pounds! It had an amazing girth!
Both of us never got into anything else so we hit the road around 10:15am |
