Site member Jeff offered me a ride to the Reef Thursday and we went. Got there around 1:30pm on the incoming tide and worked the rest of the incoming. There was a gusty west wind making the Norwalk side choppy.
Jeff stuck with pencil poppers and also tried throwing a Storm Shad. Lures I played around with included pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-10, original pearl shad FLR-10, mullet Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-9, and flake blue Max Rap MXR-13.
I landed a 4 pound taylor on the SSP-9. Other than that, Jeff and I had no other hits.
Saw a few boats come and go.
Hit the road just before 4pm.
Today makes it the earliest time of year I've ever caught a bluefish. |

I figured once you hooked into that blue we would have some action for a while. At least it was a nice day to get out! |

Found what was either a peanut bunker or alewife in its stomach. I was very surprised we never got anything else. |

Hey bassinthesalt, I've always wondered. What kind of bad stuff would a bluefish from around here be loaded with? |

All they say is that you should minimize the amount you eat them. And to make sure you cut out the dark meat because that has the higher concentrations of PCBs. Otherwise there's nothing wrong with eating a blue from time to time. |

I don't want blues yet! Stripers are all over and the blues just tear through gear! _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.
