After all my friends called off fishing for the day because of rain i said screw it and went. I went around 1:00pm in my kayak and launched way in the back where the bikers usually start their ride (its hard to explain) i believe its down old dodgingtown road.

The main reason i was going to huntington was for trout which i had my gear for. As im paddlng down the canal looking at the scenery i noticed next to a few weed stalks in the water was a 10 or so inch largemouth. I completely forgot that now is probably prime time bass fishing and i was out trout fishing. So silly me, i didnt buy any gear for bass yet and had my trout rods with me.

So i search deep into my tacklebag for anything for bass. Senkos, frogs, yum dingers, ANYTHING for bass. After searching i came up with a pack of zoom horny toads that were ripped to shreds and beaten up from all the use, one yum dinger perfect condition, and one keitech sexy impact (basically a yum dinger).

I also found my two untouched packages of Trokar hooks one pack 3/0 and the other 4/0. I remember how excited i was to get these for free from their survey thing and i couldnt wait to use them. These hooks are probably my new go to hooks. No matter the price these hooks are great. They're so sharp its crazy. The paint is also very good and didnt wear away a tiny bit when using pliers to pull the hook out of the pickerels mouths.

So, I casted a few times to fallen trees and submerged rubble in hopes for a fish. Remember im in the canal part which gets 5-6 feet deep MAX. Within a few casts i catch a 14inch pickerel. Then i keep fishing and get another pickerel same size. I paddled under the bridge and into the first pond to the left and fished the shore catching a largemouth about 14inches. Kept casting near the fallen trees and had a decent 3lb male swipe and hit my keitech but i didnt set the hook fast enough.

Kept following the shoreline and nothing so i went to the main lake for trout, after trolling for a good 20 minutes i decided to stick with the bass and pickerel since they were biting so well and went to the inner cove that doesnt get very deep. For the rest of the day i caught about 4 or 5 more pickerel all around the same size and 4 more bass with the biggest being 15inches and put up a great fight on my trout setup. I got off the water at around 5 because i heard some thunder rolling in and good thing i left cause it poured once i got in the car.

All in all good day for a couple hours in the afternoon. And if you see trokar hooks in a store, try them out. Theyre amazing and theyre worth the money. As long as you dont sling them into trees or get them caught in rocks then they should last you a long time. And sorry for no pictures. I have a Intova SP1 camera which is a sporting camera like the go pro and has a wide angle lens so the pictures are too big to be formatted properly on the forums or in my post so i cant post pictures that easily. I CAN post them but it wont be worth the time to see a few small bass and dink slime darts.
