I know... strange topic...
After the winter we've had, the craziness (and still ongoing) of my job, going to Arizona and Las Vegas for 2 weeks then immediately getting hit by the flu which left me out of work for almost 2 weeks.... I FINALLY got my fishing license today... bought some new rapala scatter raps, and went fishing!
First stop, Risley Reservoir... manchester/vernon/bolton line...now about 2 months ago there was some discussion about fishing here, some website said it wasn't allowed because it part of the manchester water supply. The sign clearly states " please only take litter, photographs and memories" and "...wishes to remain catch and release only" So, that tells me fishing is allowed.
Now it's 1pm on a Sunday and I really didn't expect to catch anything, I have better luck in the evenings there... but I wanted to try the new scatter raps, they really didn't seem to wobble as much as the ads seem to make it.. I had a bass, yellow perch and a pickerel follower but no hits... the wind was blowing right in my direction and it made it difficult to cast from the shore..
Then went to Valley Falls.. should've known on a Sunday, the swimmers are already there and tons of kids running around... lots of cute dogs though! I didn't even park. I was going to head up to middle bolton lake which is kind of right around the corner from VF's but I only get snagged when I fish from that area... it's a small boat launch area. So I went over to Walker Reservoir which is off of Exit 67 on rt84, was there about 1/2 hour.... through some raps and an in line spinner... again, the wind was a factor.
But it was so nice to get out and fish again.. what a long few months! Tomorrow I am on an "open" shift at work.... so I leave around 5 or so in the afternoon ( i work in bristol) so I know that traffic is going to suck on 84 east which means I am stopping at Batterson for an hour or so til traffic dies down.
That's my report and I'm sticking with it! |

Bristol you say? Ever fish the coppermine brook at all? I fish the pequabuck river often and have been looking for a spot on the coppermine. Batterson kills me every time, never any luck haha. |

No, I've never heard of the coppermine river. If it's fishable I'll try it. As far as batterson, I fish to the right of the boat launch, some rocky structure, I think I've only caught some yellow perch there. But it's a great way to kill and hour or say as traffic dies down on 84. |
