I had some free time Sunday afternoon so I decided to check out Batterson Pond and do some trolling for Walleye.
I got on the water about 5:00 and was off the water about 7:30.
I was trolling a perch colored SSR-07 rapala around the rock pile in the middle of the lake without any luck so I left the rod in back of the boat and moved to the front of the boat to grab another lure thinking to myself. As soon as I stop watching the rod, I'll get something on it.
I got to the front of the boat, and turned around and my rod was bent over.
I went to the back of the boat and was able to bring a decent walleye just over 18 inches.
I got this fish before 6:00 and thought I'd get more action. But the fishing was slow and only managed a perch after that.
Still good to get the first walleye of the year. |

I'm happy for you, Dave, I really am, but SONOFAB*!@# Why can't I get anything but shorts?!?!
Seriously, though, I guess throwing a pause in every once in while is a good idea when you're trolling a crankbait. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Thanks Phil. I actually kept trolling when I went to the front of the boat.
Maybe the movement of the boat was shaking things up while I was trolling.
I don't know but it worked. |

If you want to go bigger and stay deep, I'd recommend a Jointed Deep Husky Jerk size 8 or Deep Husky Jerk size 10. |
