My day started at rainbow reservoir but i never put the boat iin the water, after i got interrogated by the deep officer about why i had a MA boat and a CT fishing license. i nave never been stopped by a deep officer in Ct. before the interrogation he said not too may ppl were catching much So i drove a little ways to Barts launch which I am assuming is either the ct or the Farmington, not sure which.
It was an extremely SLOW day. I only caught one smallie which was about 15 inches maybe. I was throwing a chartreuse spinner bait( which I caught the smallie on) a black and blue football jig w/ trailer, and a senko. Although it was not really windy, it was my first time fishing on a boat in a river it's kinda difficult to fish with a current unless your anchored up. Using a trolling motor turned out a little bit more difficult than I expected. But it was a very beautiful day, glad I got the boat on the water.
Glad I didn't take the boat to bissel I had a really hard time getting the boat back on the trailer.what a task doing it by yourself.

River smallies are always fun. At least you didn't get skunked. You were on the lower Farmington River, between Rainbow Dam and the Connecticut River.

I know just how ya feel launching and loading by yourself. This is my first year at it also. I found that putting the trailer in deeper aligns it up much better and faster. I can place the bow right on the bow stop now. Just took a little practice and a few newly invented cuss words.
Nothing worse than being the newby on the ramp with the pros waiting in line for you to move! LOL. One boater actually took a moment to show me what I was doing wrong. I commented that he was the first to offer help. He replied I was the first to listen.
Have patience. You'll get it.
If ya wanna see self proclaimed experts do it their way go to Haddam Meadows and sit by the launch on a hot summer day with a thunder storm approaching. The ramp goes from one boat every 5/10 minutes to 200 in line yelling at ya. We broke an axel last year. I stayed with the boat anchored in the river while my partner went to get a new bearing.Everyone on the river tried getting off as the lightening approached.
That some funny stuff. You'll see boaters less experienced then you. Tempers flare ect!

That makes me feel a lot better, I know I am not the only newbie at the boat launch.
I am very glad I didn't get skunked. I wouldn't be able to come home.
