today looked like a fishy day and i wanted to try Hatch for the last two years. today i finally got to do it. i figured that if hatch sucked i could go further up rt 7 to mudge or somethin. well it didnt suck and today was the start of Jigtoberfest for me. The water was 67-68 and quite murky. other then the herons, i had the lake to myself all day long. i fished from approx 1130am till 530pm water was low and i could only manage 1 short by the dam on the jig. main lake i fished a couple of grass beds and hit one that was on fire. over the next 3 hours i pulled 18 keepers from that grass bed and the surrounding pads. the fish were in the holes and on the outside edges of the grass. most were 1lb 3/4 - to 2lb 1/2 i did manage 2 @ 3lbs. found an isolated lily clump and pitched to it and another 3lber in the boat. it slowed way down after that and i picked off a few fish here and there off some of the laydowns. all of these fish were in 6FOW or less. i did get one on a c-rig in 10 FOW like 2lb back to the jig and where i started at the isolated lily clump. couple pitches and no hits when im thinking there should be a fish here. 1 more pitch and i get to test my new berkeley scale. 6lbs 2 1/4ozs. in my rush i forgot to snap a pick oh well :mad1: got a couple more keepers and called it a day. i did snap a few pics today [img][/img] [img][/img] ill be going back to hatch soon _________________ www.nakedbaitco.com |
