High tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 2:10pm Saturday and NWS was forecasting 6 to 11 mph WSW winds. Got to Remington around 2:30pm to find 3 chunkers there already.
Throughout the afternoon and evening I only landed 1 schoolie on a 4" chartreuse Bomber Saltwater Grade soft plastic rigged on a 3/4 ounce Hurricane jighead.
Sandworms were getting lots of attention and saw 4 schoolies landed and 1 winter flounder. Had only 1 hit on the original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10.
Later in the evening just before sunset I decided to start wading out on the sandbar and sandy flats while throwing the FLR-10. 3 surf fishermen with their waders on had just gotten there and were wading on the sandbar.
As I followed the tide out I started seeing bait and splashes on the surface. Saw one of the surf fishermen land a keeper on an SP Minnow. Another fisherman had an explosion on a Cotton Cordell pencil popper. I had a total of 7 hits on the FLR-10 and also had 1 swirl in front of me and a explosion in front of me when I went to take the lure out of the water.
Kept seeing and hearing the breaks as the evening went on and it was after dark. The surf fishermen left before I did and then I hit the road just before 8:30pm.
Plan is to have my waders on and bring my Aerial 8 footer with a few bigger plugs and topwaters in a surf bag Monday evening on the outgoing. |

I have a hunch that the action I was seeing this evening was the beginning of the return of the migratories. |

CD is right, saw a few with lice last night and night before in lower Housy, haven't caught any with lice in upper Housy yet. Seems something is keeping them from coming up like the Herring. We need to push both up river! LOL _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....
