Last Monday, I snagged up four or five brown bullhead in the cove at the end of the Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Plant Canal with a striper jig within the span of an hour. I hooked every single one of them in the same spot on the side near the tail as I dragged the jig along the bottom. All of them looked very healthy and croaked at me pretty vigorously:

They're getting schoolies already in the CT river in Cromwell. Nice size channel cats are hooked pretty regularly in the early spring by striper fisherman. Good eatting too before the temps rise high in the river...

The CT Angler's Guide says it's not safe to keep channel cats from the CTR because of mercury and PCB.

No. I'd only keep anadromous fish (i.e., saltwater fish that spawn in fresh water) out of the Connecticut River. Like Michael said, I'd worry about the mercury and PCBs in the fish.

The mercury and pcb levels arnt as bad as they say a few fish is fine but i dont recomend eating fish out of the housey except panfish because of the pcb levels.
