Went fishing on the matty on sat. Saw a bass boat and two jon boats and no body caught nothing. The water was clear and you could sight fish problem was you couldnt see any fish so a little discouraging. About an hour in to it i got a quarter punder with cheese of a xrap perch.

I like that lure cus it suspends right in the strike zone and it only runs about 2-4 feet deep, where the matty is only 3 feet deep and all my boys that need to use yum dingers on the bottom get snagged all the time. Well we got to the "stright away" where theres madd rice right before the cogincog and the tide fliped so fast it was like someone flushed the toliet. we paddled back up cuz it was like 4 hours in and getting dark and the current was strong. Afterabout 45 mins of straight paddlin I took two casts. on the second i did a long puase and bam caught this lil pike. i know its not a monster but it was my personal best and as i got it maybe 8 feet from the boat was super pissed at me and faught me out and in the boat.

unfortunatly my boys all got skunked and the river didnt seem to be full of live but someone said they saw two monsters.

Hey, that's awesome. Congratulations on your Personal Best northern pike. I'm sure you'll beat it, soon.

Congrats! Nice job with the pike!

Nice to see somebody was using a Rapala that helped them succeed vs the others.

Went to the river yesterday 4 hours until dark tide comin in. Got skunked. And the water was clear so i was lookin thw whole time and no fish to be seen. Not even perch and there in the hundreds in the spring. Coulda been cuz it was windy and freezing but it looka like ima hit the ponds for a week or two untill the baitfish come in.
went to secret bass pond in berlin at like 11 caught 4 lil bass in an hour tho on a 3' matzu srick jerkbait so wasnt total loss of a day off and freezing
Any body tweakin out cuz last year striper/baitfish/spawn was so early and this year its so cold.

Hoping to hit it Saturday for pike. Probably start in the Haddam area and run north to the Mattabassett and maybe Wethersfield.
