I hit a couple ponds today, threw a variety of lures and wasn't getting anything.... Just snags. Let me know what you guys have been throwing that worked .. |

Well it is still pre-spawn, but there was a thread a short while back that pretty much covered everything about this. I have been using small-medium sized Rapala Shad Raps and getting good success. Use a quick jerk retrieve with pauses. Senko's have also been decent. A lot of people like jigs for this time of year as well. _________________ The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. Best |

So far my only success has been on a 5" watermelon senko. However I've only hit two spots this year. Don't forget the water is still pretty cold so it hasn't been the optimum temperature for spawning yet |

A jig in eitheer black and blue or a greenish color and rapala husky jerks in various sizes, but smaller work better _________________ Top 5 Favorite lures: Boo-yah Boo jig, Zoom Horny Toad, Rapala Husky Jerk, Berkley Power Worm, Senkos |

Small suspending jerkbaits and smaller deep diving crankbaits.
Jerkbaits such as Rapala Husky Jerk, Rapala X-Rap, and Rapala X-Rap Shad Shallow have been working for me.
Smaller deep diving crankbaits such as Rapala Shad Rap SR-5, Rapala Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4, and Rapala Shad Rap RS SRRS-4 are good this time of year. Slow retrieve is the trick with those.
Soft plastics are another way to go. 4" Berkley Power Worm, 4" Senko, 2 1/2" Fin-S, and Mister Twister Twistermite. |

Ya def no where near spawn yet but i be loving the x-rap. I never used it last year but its good cus it is suspending so it doesnt snag like a sinking jerk bait and sits in the strike zone fo them lazy ass bass right now. |

This time of the year is easy you only need 3 baits, a shallow crank a jerkbait and a grub. If you cant see the bottom you are fishing to deep, shallow fish are hungry fish. You want to find grass or rocks they warm the water around them very fast and since fish are cold blooded they will be where the warm water is. |

so far i've had the most luck lately with the rapala husky jerk hj-6 in yellow perch pattern with a pause/twitch retrieve in smaller ponds in the area that are warming up alot faster where the fish seem to be more active, rather than the larger bodies of water like rivers, lakes, etc. |

Yes!! Great advice I sub the grub for a jig. Might give the grub a try this year any tips on the grub? _________________ My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it... |

Recently when I was at a small pond with a buddy, I let him choose a soft plastic in one of my small cases. He chose a Mister Twister Exude Nymph and rigged it with a 1/16 oz jighead. Bass and bluegills were picking it up quickly. |
