below the dam or above? the fishing below the dam is hot most of the time. the hard part is FINDING the fish. but when you do, its easy to load up. |

If you're searching for perch on the Housy, head over to O'Sullivans with worms |

gotten them there at low tide both times i tried. Seems better to me because the fish will be more concentrated. I think it was a little later in the spring though.. _________________ Trust me. Use waxworms ! |

Water temp might have something to do with it, not the tide. |

I think it would be a good idea to always look at all the factors. I use the soluar charts off weather.com, consider temprature, pressure and how suny or cloudy it is. No factor operates by itself, and identifying how all the conditions interact will lead to a better understanding and success. Temprature has a huge effect on fish metabolisim and how they act. Notice in the summer there a lot easier to catch because its warm and there hungry. Most of the time the fish will move a lot further to eat the bait as well. The cold water is rough because you need to be right on target, as well as having a well presented bait. You may want to consider line choice during the colder water. There are a lot less reaction strikes and the fish are giving the bait a great examination before the take. Lighter line may give you more of an advantage. The battle will be less than in the summer and there is a lot less weed cover to deal with.
Tidal shifts will determine where the fish locate. The fish will move up in higher tide to feed, and then move back to a diffrent holding spot when the tide shifts. The amount of the tidal change in the area your fishing will impact how often or if the fish need to move. Just my 2 |
