What a difference a year makes! Last year at this time it was 85 degrees! Not this year. My bass club had our Santee T on Saturday the 23rd. Last year the water temp was 68 degrees and the bass were shallow with many fish on beds. This year the water is 55 deg, and no signs of bass spawning. It was a raw, windy, cold and rainy day with the temp never getting out of the low 50's and falling into low 40's by weigh in time.
Normally this is a 2 day T, but the club decided to not fish Sunday. Big T storms, wind and torrential rains.
My partner and I figured out what the bass wanted, very subtle lure change. Sorry I can't say what lure, fishing a big T this coming Saturday there. You never know who's reading
We ended up finishing 1st with 25.43lbs, Not too bad considering the conditions.
I like wearing my UCONN sweatshirt. Dang Yankee.
