How many of you guys inspect your fishing rods,,how many of you inspect the guides,,I just inspected one of mine,,and it looked great until I ran a q-tip around the guides and saw that the tip guide was pulling on the q-tip,,,it had a little crack in it,,Imagine what that does to your line

Mine never seem to last long enough to be that way! I try to be gentle on my stuff but at night on the rocks it just never serms to happen. Thats why I buy nice stuff but not crazy like Lami polez with ZBass reels.

Dude great idea. I've been setting up my rods for weeks now. I keep taking one reel off and putting it on another rod, then back again Laughing . Taking my yak tomorrow for as long as I can stand it.

While we are kind of on the subject, does anyone polish the edges of their spools. I hit mine with a very fine emery cloth and then steel wool once in awhile but thats my striper reel that I put down when on the rocks and stuff to take off fish or something and it creates knicks on the spool edge that scare me sometimes. I need a reel and rod with like Carbide guide eyes and spool lip!

I check mine each time I respool and smooth out any roughness with 400x and finish it off with 1500x emery...I try to remember to check regularly but always when I re spool.

How many of you guys remember when the entire guides were made of metal? Wink

Seriously though, that Q-tip test is a very good one to use and I will have to thank "flippy" for this post because now I will have to give all the setups a run down. Thumbs Up

Especially all the saltwater rigs.
