i voted to release them because I do that more often than not. I do keep them on occasion. They make a killer stock for a fish stew as something in the fish's skin thickens the broth. I don't target shark but am planning on trying out their fillets this summer for chunk bait. _________________ i'm a castaway with no fishing pole, and the fishing hole is just a cast away |

Their fillets make good bait. Fillet their tails and you can either hook the whole thing or cut it into strips. |

flillet the tail and throw it on the hook with skin and you will have bait still even after about 2 blues depending on the size. hard to get the skin off the hook tho but they work really good. good backup bait and basically endless supply of those SOBs |

These things scare the hell outta me. Their "wings" are dangerous. If they cut you, ouchh! It HURTS. But I always get them back quickly and gently for somebody else to catch. |

Yes be careful when handling sea robins. Watch out for their gills spikes as well as their top fins. Last summer I was going to use a Sea Robin I just caught as bait so I figured it would be more humane towards the fish if I gave it a quick blow to its head with my foot so it didn't have to suffer when I filleted it. When I stomped on it it's head it's dorsal fin spike was up so the spike went through my shoe and sock right into my foot . It hurt for a few days after that, so be careful. |

Never had the "pleasure" of catching one. Seen a couple small ones in the shallows but I guess they must not be as common in Fishers Island Sound. Don't often fish with bait either. |
