Went to Eagleville today at around 330 for an hour between classes. I forgot my tackle box at home but had a lucky craft live pointer tied on and a drop shot rig with an aarons magic colored 4 inch robo worm. Thin ice still covered the coves but the dam area was open so I fished that for a little while an got nothing. Moved down the train tracks and still got nothing. I was going to walk to were the river flows in from the north but decided to save that for a trip in the kayak. The place looks great and heard some good things about it but was wondering how good the smallmouth bite is there, I know theyre listed as a species there but are they hard to come across?

Have fished there a few times with friends and I have never caught one myself. My friend caught two good size ones on one trip, but nothing consistent. I have a depth finder now so hopefully I can find the structure where they may be. I will be headed there soon as that is one of my spots before opening day that I go to. Hopefully it will pick up soon.

Hey man if you want to head out to Eagleville or somewhere in the area one day let me know. I'm always looking for somewhere to go and it wouldn't take much convincing to get rmflint (Ryan) out too.

Although I have never fished Eagleville, I have fished the Willimantic river downstream of the dam right in downtown Willie and the river is loaded with smallies. I have to think there is a good smallie population in there.

Yeah swan has some lunkers. The ponds by the old jail and the depot campus have bass, but nothing too big in any kind of abundance. Supposedly there its a 5lber in there because some kids involved in like environmental stuff on campus shocked the fish in the pond and collected data and saw a 5 or 6lber. Ohand I do go to UConn.

The ponds by the former prison across from UConn's Depot Campus may be stocked with trout and therefore closed until opening day.

I am a freshman this year but I've put in a lot of work trying to get to know the area. My biggest fish out of swan was 4 and a quarter pounds. Check the bass fishing forum not the report one but the just fishing one and look for sbehuniak's post about guess the weights. One of them has our bigger fish.
