Hi All,

I've been searching for a guide to take a buddy and I out on the CT in search of pike...

Reached out to CT Outfitters, but not sure that they are still in the pike guide-ing business.

Anyone have any suggestions?

you may want to offer RNA some cash to take you out, he has good luck with pike. There is a good shot at some action around salmon cove.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll hit up Blaine again... looks like he's been on the road alot lately!

Also, by RNA, I am assuming you mean red neck angler, no?

We actually do have a boat, but don't know the CT River and have never seriously targeted pike... Like to go out with someone who knows what they are doing the first time and then mess it all up on our own the next time Wink

Also like to support the local fishing economy.

When the coves clear up, launch at Salmon River or Haddam Meadows and check out the Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Plant Canal. Go all the way to the end of the canal. Slow roll big spinnerbaits, or throw lipless cranks or big swimbaits. Any lure you can drag over the bottom about eight feet down would work. When the water warms a bit and the fish are more active, any big plug thrown toward the shore of the Connecticut near the surface would work, although I prefer white ones. Right now, the confluence of the Farmington and the Connecticut is probably open. Pike hold there. And someone recently reported that the Mattabesset is fairly open. I'd try there, too.

Hey SneakyPete. Blaine is the only guy I know around here that does a lot of guiding on the CT, and he is good for pike. You should check out the seminar he's doing in a few weeks.

I hope to get out next weekend just to run my new boat and do some recon, but both the pike and stripers will be biting before too long. PECos advice was good. I fish all of those places regularly, as well as a few others. Any mouths of streams or coves are good. I like the late afternoons and tides affect where I fish. I fish large swim baits and livebaits. The bigger the better. I'll be posting once I start getting out some, and would be happy to meet up with you some time.

I've heard nothing but good things about Blaine... so I'll definitely keep trying him and see about hitting his seminar.

when are you guys trying to go out? i still have to pull the tarp of the boat, but id gladly show you where there are pike, and help you to avoid running aground.

capt. joe netalicky. not sure on spelling. Windsor locks. joes bass and bait also in windsor locks is where you can find him. hes been guiding on ct river for years.

Ahhhh...Joe's Bait Farm!! I grew up in WL and as a kid I'd ride my bike to his place by some nightcrawlers then ride my bike the length of the canal! Good memories going there, always felt funny going in the early AM though, thinking I'm waking them up!
