Next preseason discussion is spinnerbaits. For those of you who use spinnerbaits, what colors do you have the most success with and when ie clear water, stained water, time of year. Also do you have more success burning them just under the surface or deeper with a retrieve and pause method. How many of you that fish them use a trailer hook and if you use one or don't explain why.
Hope we can get some more great info from and input. |

Im likeing white and black for colors and the Colorado blades seem to be beating the hell out of my willow blade so much so ive bought several more for this year. _________________ I Love to fish......Not a big fan of sitting in the boat alone ....the Conversation and the company make it perfect |

Ditto. I have more white and black spinnerbaits than any other color. I tend to use a very slow retrieve, so I prefer Colorado blades, which work better at slower speeds than willow blades. However, when the water is really warm and the fish are more active, I also like a faster retrieve with spinnerbaits that have painted willow blades. I think that they mimic a small school of fish. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Probably my favorite lure overall is a small green Strike King spinnerbait with a Colorado blade. You can get them at Walmart for like $3-4 and I stock up like crazy on them every year. I have never had much success with other, larger spinnerbaits. I get tons of fish reeling it quickly just under the surface. In truth, you will get a lot of smaller bass, but I've definitely caught more on that than anything else all over the place. _________________ The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. whites, yellows, chartruese, usually 3/8 ounce... I vary retrieve depending whats around... I generally fish from shore so what is around me and how quickly water deepens dictates my retrieve.. also time of day. late evening I'll do quick topwater retrieve..middle day, slower retrieve... bounce around cover, zip over weeds... again, from the shore it depends what around. |
