Anybody know when they stock the Salmon River? I was thinking of heading there this Saturday. |

Hi,
No public water(s) trout stockings till end of March and 3rd weekend in April !
Stocking point maps listed on DEEP web site ... But will never post times !
Only trout now, anywhere, are holdovers.

Hi,
Yeah ! Your right -> But that was because of the very mild winter and they had to keep feeding the fish all winter till they got too big for the hatchery and rubbing themselves raw on the holding tank sides.
So they started to stock early -> Remember the posts DEEP made about the early stockings and why ?
Not so this year

This is a status that went out today from CT Fish and Wildlife's Facebook page along with a picture of DEEP workers stocking trout through the ice
Quote: | GOOD NEWS ANGLERS -DEEP Inland Fisheries Division began spring trout stocking this week! This brings a friendly reminder that fishing season has closed as of today in many of CT's streams and rivers and a number of lakes and ponds (there are no new regulations in effect for the 2013 season, so refer to the 2012 online Anglers Guide for complete regulations). However, there are plenty of opportunities to wet a line in any of the State's 16 Trout Management Areas as well as all Class 1 Wild Trout Management Areas (which remain open year round for catch-and-release fishing). Many of these Trout Management Areas are scheduled to be stocked in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for stocking updates! |

I saw a flatbed semi-trailer hauling "Live Fish" in tanks on Route 95 last week. Whoo hoo! _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi RNA,
OK! So they started early again this year.
My post was the 27th and DEEP posted their's on the 28th.
DEEP I guess has changed their stocking times again.
Still they won't tell you what day or exact locations and times they do their stockings.
If they did -> You'd have a convoy of vehicles following the stocking trucks.

Tried Salmon River TMA today...No luck though. Water moving fast but very fishable. Had high hopes but didn't have any action. Still not yet stocked I guess. it was nice just to get out there on a nice day like today. |

I have been catching trout all last week at the Salmon River. It has been heavyly stocked as of march. I have already caught a 23 inch 6 pound rainbow last week and have seen a few over 8 pounds. |
