While I was fishing the Mill River TMA Sunday I heard a bird hopping around through brush and on top of the snow. Got to see the bird but haven't found out what it was.

Closest I came was a type of wren.

Shape and size was your average sparrow, swallow, or wren.

The color is what's making it tuff. The whole body was a rusty orange brown with some black markings on the wings. Breast looked to be a bight brighter than the rest of the body.

Another thing making it tuff is time of year I saw it.

Any bird watchers think they know?

Just looked at pics of black headed grosbeak and recognized the orange like color but the whole body was that color with just a few pale black markings on the wings.

Saw it eventually go into a brush pile.

If I were to compare the bird's color to a fish's color, then I'd say something similar to the bottom of a female bluegill but more on the orange side than yellow.

The bird was too small to be a cardinal and am very familiar with cardinals.

I'm gonna confirm it was a type of wren or a female grosbeak.
