Went out on the CT River Friday with Gary and Dave P. The river was skim ice with floating sheets, but at least it was calm and sunny. We caught 28 Walleyes up to 5 pounds, 3 smallmouth, and 2 Channel Catfish, one about 10 pounds. All fish were caught on jigs, even the catfish! Only saw one other boat all day. Below are assorted pics and videos. Enjoy!

I'm envious, too! Very Happy After picking up a new battery at Cabela's for my trolling motor on Friday, TurtleKiss (aka Kira) and I checked out the Charter Oak boat launch ramp and the stretch of the Connecticut River from the Riverside Park boat launch ramp to the Northeast Utilities power plant:

It was the first time either of us had ever been on that stretch of the river. The only other boats we saw were three eight man sculls and a chase boat that came up from downriver.

Unfortunately, fishing was a complete and total bust for us. We marked very few scattered fish with the fish finder all afternoon, probably fewer than a dozen, and didn't get even a nibble. Confused Yes, the water was warmer near the power plant; A LOT warmer. The water temperature ranged from 34 degrees at the ramp to 47 degrees at the plant! But, no, there weren't any fish holding in the warmer water. And, yes, that surprised us, too. Rolling Eyes

Despite the poor fishing, it was a beautiful afternoon to be out of the water, with a bit of sunshine, air temperatures in the upper 30s and winds out of the north up to only five miles per hour. Now I'm really looking forward to the next mediocre day to get out on the water again. Wink

Well, for those keeping track, the stripers aren't up there, yet! Wink

Jigging spoons, bladebaits, and lead head jigs caught all of them. This is up in Massachusetts.

That's great.
Wish more of those walleye would come down to Connecticut.

The Stripers have been in the Housy since last fall, no waiting necessary.
