|
|
Today I got a rod in the mail to compare to another for the same fishing.
After putting both together I took a few swings with each to compare the action.
One difference I felt was the feeling of "force".
When you feel more force in another rod of the same type of fishing, action, and height of the other, what does that mean? |

I dont think i get the question due to the "force". One may be a faster action, which means it loads faster. Or do you mean the power is higher. The crazy thing is there is no standard for either. A medium power rod from abu garcia is diffrent from st croix. The best way to know what your realy getting is to check the lure weight range. The speed of a rod, is also different from each company. The tendency is to make faster rods now than they did in years past. Your ugly sticks are a moderate speed. They work well for crankbaits, but leave a lot to be desired while jig or worm fishing, The amount of effort required to set the hook on a 3/8 jig on a medium ugly stick is outrageous if you can even do it. Large single hook fishing is best done with graphite rods, not glass or hybrid rods. Check this out...

The 2 rods were my new Daiwa Emcast Surf and a Sea Striker Surf that I got last year and only used once.
What I mean by "force" is when I swung them, I felt more stiffness and strength with the Daiwa than the Sea Striker.
Example would be playing baseball vs tennis. |
