Snow on top of water on top of ice on top of water

Water under soft crispy snow

Water was at least 6in

As you can see this wouldnt be fun to walk through all day

They were there for maybe a half an hour and caught some gills before I showed up to watch from shore and take a few pics

As we left (I should have taken pics) we stopped to check the ice in a spot that looked very thin.
Hit it with the shovel and it fell apart like thin glass.
Checked a spot further over that looked exactly like the crispy ice/snow they were walking on and there was no ice.
Basically crispy snow something someone could have easily walked on and fallen through.

Be safe where ever you go and make sure you bring some good water proof boots to keep your feet dry.

Another winter, still never been out on the ice. Even bought a couple of tip ups in case I went out with someone. In a few weeks I hope to be out on my new boat.

I'd say ice fishing is all over for me too.

Hoping within 2 weeks or so local bass and bluegill ponds will start thawing and the Housy will start warming up.

next week looks ok for colder temps but the following week does not. I'll be fishing for atleast the next two weekends.
