Went to E Twin this AM. Got there a 7 - no action for 90 minutes. Then, in a matter of forty seconds, I had 4 flags, Landed 3 including a 12" perch and a large brown. While I was unhooking the trout my jigging rod got hit, so I threw the fish back in the hole while I tended to the rod. When I came back the trout was gone, but it was a nice one, approaching 20."
Took me 10 minutes to re-bait after that, but it was all over except for a couple flags and one more perch at 11. Stopped by Bantam on the was home, and got the skunk!
Home in time for kick-off. |

Ct DEEP annually stocks 16,000 trout into just East twin-The prime habitat and forage allows it to maintain an excellent quality holdover brown fishery. Your 20" was most likely only stocked last spring: Now last time I went to a cove in the ct. river a guy was jigging next to me-iced about a dozen small perch, then walked away to leave them to die. This practice of icing and leaving panfish is alarmingly quite common even though most water where I see this practice have healthy, balanced; not stunted panfish populations. Of course in this instance I promptly returned the perch to the waters of the cove he spudded+jigged them from. That is a practice the fishermen here should be speaking out against. I assure you there are no shortage of holdover brownd in east twin nor will there be as long as we can keep the waters clean: after all Wononscopumuc used to be able to support lake trout. I support all the responsable fishermen on this forum+ hope none of us fall through this year. |
