Fishery management officials meeting here on Wednesday voted to impose drastic new cuts to the commercial harvest of cod along the Atlantic coast, arguing that the only way to save the centuries-old cod fishing industry was to sharply limit it.

Hi,

Yes ! ... I sympathize with the fishermen !

As a teenager I worked as a fishing boat deckhand out of New Bedford and Tiverton RI.

For 4 years I worked summers on an offshore lobster/swordfish boat and became a Swordfish harpooner .

Was an exciting time of my life with fond memories.
