|
|
Hi,
Made up 3 types of homemade ice fishing chum last night !
Chumming is legal in Connecticut
#1 -> Pureed up some sweet corn in a blender and poured it into ice-cube trays and froze.
Will use 3-4 cubes, with a rock for weight, in left over onion bag tied to string.
Lower bag to desired depth and let corn cubes melt and spread scent at that depth.
#2 -> Mixed dry oatmeal with liquid shrimp scent (mashed salmon eggs will also work) and pressed into ice-cube tray and froze.
Using same procedure as above, send down and let oatmeal swell and spread shrimp scent.
(Cooked rice can be used also)
#3 -> Broke up package of Ramen noodles into small pieces and cooked (NO Seasoning).
Using 2 small plastic containers, put cooked noodles in each and scented 1 with a few drops of Anise and the other with Smelt scent.
Will salt ice fishing holes with small amounts of the noodles.
Noodles will sink slowly spinning and twisting like tiny worms and spread scent.
NOTE: Fish can digest noodles and cooked rice vs corn kernnels .
Have used all 3 types with good success in attracting fish !

I hope you don't use the same ice cube trays for chum as you do for scotch...
Could be a rough night... _________________ "Fish now, answer questions later." |
