Really depends on what bait they are into at the time. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

In the winter and early spring I have had luck with pearl white and chartreuse Super Flukes, FinS, and shads. Instead of your usual silver blue, clear silver/sparkle with blue back works better for me, esp with the herring around.
Mid Spring into early summer I enjoy using a schoolie setup with smaller plugs and crankbaits ranging from a 3 1/8" lipless to a 4 1/2" minnow plug.
Mid fall I use the same stuff as mid spring.
Late fall into early winter I use a heavier setup with larger plugs ranging from 5" to 8".
I occasionally use topwaters but haven't had as much luck with topwaters vs plugs and crankbaits. |

Depends on the time of year and what they're feeding on. Match the hatch. |

Great list right there and like others said the Storm Shad and curly tail grubs and Zoom Flukes work great this time of year. In a few months the herring will be here so the Bombers and SP Minnows will work great and Bucktails work almost anytime for some reason. Late Fall the Shad come up the rivers and the Alewives are mixed in there also so anything matching them works great again. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

When the water temps warm up and those herring arrive, can't wait to throw a Rapala Flat Rap FLR-10 and Rapala Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9 out there! |

I've caught on just about every color produced. Like the white or chartreuse, and dark purple is a killer at night. I also like to fish a teaser up ahead of bucktail if casting. If fishing from a boatt, I always go with an uncle Josh pork rind. I've also got red, yellow, hot pink, olive and other combinations. Depends on time of day, water conditions, what the fish are feeding on, etc. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

7" & 10" Fin-s alewife color or pearl Houdini Shads as well as the ones mentioned above.
When the herring is in the river, those are usually my first choice after a topwater. Nothing beats a topwater strike so I always start there. |

I'm never on the CT River in the spring without a pearl sluggo or Houdini shad ready to throw. Anything with a pearl/white underbelly. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.
