After getting my bike back from a nice tune up, today I decided to check on the ice conditions at Twin Brooks Park. Arrived around 12:45pm.
Saw the 2 smaller shallow ponds were mostly iced over with very skim ice. Went over to where Boothe Hill Brook feeds into one of the ponds. That pond didn't have any ice. Tried playing around with a few different Husky Jerk HJ-6 and Flat Rap FLR-6 but didn't have any hits or followers.
Moved down that pond but still nothing.
The main pond was about 50% iced over with skim ice. Open areas such as the bridge and island I tried but nothing.
Went to the larger pond where Boothe Hill Brook feeds into it. Tried throwing a HJ-6, Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4, X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-6, and Clackin Crank CNC-53 but no luck.
Last stop at Twin Brooks was the bend on the Pequonnock. Tried throwing a brown trout Jointed J-5 but no followers.
Next stop was one of the small ponds. 50% was iced up with skim ice. Tried playing with a Husky Jerk HJ-6 but no flashes. Later saw where plenty of sunnies were hanging out but never got any to hit a HJ-6 or X-Rap XR-4 on the pause.
I then went to the Pequonnock at the Wonderland of Ice where I threw a brown trout Flat Rap FLR-6. Nothing was interested in it and covered 4 different areas.
Last stop was the lower tidal section of the Pequonnock at Glenwood Park. Nothing followed the FLR-6 and also tried throwing a JSR-4. Saw some suckers swimming around as it got closer to sunset but didn't have any live worms with me. Tried dropping a small soft plastic down to where they were but never looked at it.
Hit the road around 4:30pm. |
