I think that the Subject of your post refers to the fishermen, not the ice. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hmmmm ? .... You maybe right
FYI ..If your that desperate to risk everything to get out on un-reliable ice just to catch a dumb fish -> Check that ice thickness every few feet from the shore outward
Stay SAFE

Due to the elevation of the lake, the air around Bolton Lake is about six degrees colder than at the bottom of the hill. I know because I live a minute down the road. The ice might still be "safe enough" for most as long as it's at least freezing at night. |

Was out on west twin on friday, still five or six inches. then a half inch of rain friday after dusk. Saw people out on saturday and today, and saw people standing in groups, so you have to assume that they were not especially worried. That being said, other people being on the ice is one of worst things to use to gauge the safety. Only got to about 36-38 overnight in the NW corner, so overall not the best ice conditions. I have tomorrow off, may explore a bit, but it also might rain tomorrow morning. |

Even if it warms up for a few days 6" of ice wont melt very much. Especially if there is no sun (nighttime). I know the object is to be safe but since when is 6" of ice not safe? You guys have fun being scared. Im going to use my ice bar catch fish all day and know im safe. |

Six inches of ice won't melt much on the main lake, but the edges fade fast. Sure you'll only get your ankles wet, but it really isn't fun when your sled dumps your gear in two feet of water. Trust me on that one. |
