So my friend and fishing partners birthday is on the 19th. He and I have never been ice fishing before. I may have been when I was a young kid but who knows. I was wondering if any of you could help me with ideas of where to take him that "might?" have sufficient ice by the 19th in the Danbury area? Also any tips on how to go about it for the first time would be much appreciated? We are taking a trip shopping tonight for gear and such.

Thanks in advance,
-Elixir

Well im going to check west lake reservoir tomorrow maybe even east lake reservoir but i know a few smaller reservoirs have frozen over, i even fished one today. Maybe lake kenosia will be frozen but who knows if the weather stays the same. If it does then youll have many options around there. What tips do you need. Do you know how to use tip ups if youre getting them of course. Any questions you have im sure all of us could answer or at least give a little info!

Well we found some holes last night when we were scoping for places that may have enough ice and one spot had a solid 4 inches and 2 holes drilled (were still short an auger for the moment) and we tried fishing it for about 2 hours strating at 2am, we got 1 crappie off a scented jig between the 2 of us

Just had a friend call and tell me there was 4 inches on West Lake. Not sure were the reception was really bad. Must be up by Richter Park. Im making plans to go up there with them next weekend if ice holds past the showers.
