Just looked at the extended forecasts from NWS and TWC.
Getting mild and sunny once the weekend is over and no signs of snow for a while. Winds are supposed to die down and become a more mild westerly wind. NWS says Bridgeport is supposed to get up to 41 on Tuesday and TWC said not get any lower than 20 after Sunday. TWC saying Goshen is supposed to stay in the lower and mid 30s during the day and have a few overnight lows in the mid 20s.
This will be great ice fishing weather for safe places after this weekend! |

There is no such thing as safe ice, icefishing has very real inherent risks, if you havent been there personally dont tell people that, some of the ice I was fishing on was less than 3 inches thick, but that is my responsibility, not yours! -Dan |
Hi Dan,
Your absolutely correct !
"There is NO SUCH THING as SAFE ICE .....EVER
I prefer to use the term "Reliable Ice" -> and I check the ice thickness every few feet as I go along and also take a good look at the color(s) of the ice from the bottom of a hole up !
I've been on ice that was 10-11 inches thick then moved 15-20 ft. in another direction and was on 3-4 inches.
You just never know, because ice does not form uniformly anywhere !
I always have my safety gear handy and my inflatable suspender type PFD !
Plus I never go alone !
PS Dan -> Congrates on that PIKE !
Stay SAFE,

Note to all ice fishermen!!
There is a difference between "SAFE" and "RELIABLE" ice!
There is NO SUCH THING AS SAFE ICE!
You have to go where it's more "RELIABLE" because no where is "SAFE" |
