Hi.
I live in Winsted and close to many waters, so I took a ride today (2:00 PM to 4:10 PM) to checkout what ice has formed here in the NW Corner !
YOUR NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS  ...... 
 WIDE OPEN
Tyler Lake
West Side
Mt. Tom
Highland Lake
West Hill
Over 70% OPEN:
Colebrook Res.
Hogback Res.
ICED with GAPS of OPEN WATER:
Winchester
Park
NOT OBSERVED:
Wood Creek
Burr
Bantam
Dog
With snow and winds predicted for this weekend .... It's not the conditions needed to form ice !
Only suggest you save your gas as there is hardly any ice at all, and we're still quite a ways off from getting "any reliable ice!" ,,,,,Probably not till late next week !

well, it looks promising for the near future, but not now.....my fingers and tip ups are crossed for sufficient ice by then!

| I walked out to little Bantam pond Thurs. after the slop feel, looked like an inch of clear with another inch of slush on top in the swamp. I've been told by a few (braver than I) this is the first to freeze, but it looked like it needed a bit more. It's not supposed to be over freezing after Friday, I'm gonna shoot by Winchester tomorrow, poke a hole and see if it's okay for New Years day. With fingers crossed. Tightly. |
