Howdy. Been reading the forum for a few years here and there, now I am working in Litchfield, I figured I'd join and give any info I could. I usually check Bantam, any of the smaller ponds around, if I get up there I check Tyler. As of today (12/18), still saw some skim ice on reservoir water in Morris and Terryville. Supposed to be cool this week and snap over the weekend, lows in the teens and highs barely above freezing. That should start the building process as long as we ditch these Monday/Tuesday downpours. I'll let y'all know if I see anything more.

Welcome aboard.

Although I appreciate northwest Connecticut ice status reports, I'm really not ready to stop fishing open water, yet.

I'll second that. It seems every pond I drive by on my way to work has skimmed over only to have the rain wipe it out. I know we will get ice but it's getting a little frustrating.

Back in 2010 or 2011 we had a very similar winter pattern that we're getting so far and that I think we will be getting.

I wasn't on safe ice in the NW corner til after New Year and lakes and ponds south of the Candlewood Valley weren't safe all season. Then once early March rolled around, the Twin Lakes weren't safe anymore cause of rain and temps.
