After looking at the averages for december, last week was actually below average and we have made ice on average so as long as it follows what the weathers showing than we'll have ice sooner or later. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

Any updates on water temps and ice coverage for your usual places upstate?
Tyler has always been one of the first places to make ice. Bantam, Dog, and Black Rock would be some others. |

I stopped up Dog Pond and Tyler maybe 3 days ago. Dog was completely open, and Tyler was mostly open water, with some ice forming in coves. The temperature has dropped a little lower the last couple days, so maybe things will pick up, but I wouldn't expect any real progress so far. I'm surprised you fish Black Rock through the ice......I tried it a couple times and never did good. _________________ PB LMB: 4lb 13oz

any tips for me to catch some at black rock? It's close to home and usually freezes up early, so any help you gave would be much appreciated. I went out twice there and tried fishing around the dam area and moved around a little from there with no luck. _________________ PB LMB: 4lb 13oz

While at Twin Brooks Park on Monday I never saw any ice even on a small shallow pond that would see ice by now. Town ordinance says you're not allowed to ice fish any ponds there.
One thing I did see on 2 ponds was this foamy white stuff along the shore making me thing it was some type of air mass that meant ice getting ready to form.
On my way to Trumbull I cut through Beardsley Park. Didn't see any ice on the cove at Bunnells Pond. No ice in the shallower areas of the Pequonnock just north of Bunnells and also not at the small shallow marshy pond. The small shallow marshy pond would see ice by now and so would some areas of the cove at Bunnells. |
