I was there 2 or so weeks ago. Gate was opened, cars were parked, and signs were up saying "Squantz Pond is Closed". The signs were more of a post-Sandy situation than when they try and keep the bad people out after sunset.
The 2 guys I go there with haven't been there since. Water temps were reported to be 54 to 57 that evening when 2 fishermen got off the water. |

I wish. I havent been there in a month or two because of how bad it was last time. If youre looking for the bass then good luck. Theyve fattened up and will only take an easy meal now like a minnow. The walleyes on the otherhand, are at a good time in the season. Theyre more active now and the colors will make them strike. Trout are still there surfacing is my guess. But you know how squantz is. Its an all or nothing deal. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

hit the pond on Sunday - the ramp was easy to use and the pond actually was fuller than it was in August! water temps in the high 40's! it was a great dayb to be on the water no wind and it got warm! the fishing was slow but there were fish to be had - tubes - ki-tecks - hair jigs and cranks! we didn't hammer them but got some REAL NICE fish! later in the afternoon we trolled at around 15 feet and picked up some nice fat smallies! -- NO WALLEYE and NO TROUT just LRGM and SMLM! -- hoping to get back again this week! for those of us that fish the pond it is hit or miss! but this time of year it is a GREAT PLACE TO BE ON THE WATER! |

I went there sunday as well. Didnt pick up anything and didnt really try. There was an abandoned boat washed up on some rocks with a hole in the side with water. I think sandy broke it off the cleats of the dock and drifted it across the lake. Dont think any sane person would paddle across to retreive the boat. Just wondering, was that you pulling out with two other guys in a smallish aluminum boat with a minnkota trolling motor on back? If so then that was me and my dad in teh kayaks heading into the lake. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

Been fishing Sqnz for 6 years, for Eyes, SMB, and Trout....Mostly just troll but still fish here and there, any difference in walking sinkers as a pose to reg split shots or bell sinkers with a three way swivel if your still fishing?
Was also out on Sunday 11/18/12, surprised to see a lot of boats out for a Sunday. I usually fish Tue, Thur, or Fri am only, pond is a dead zone.
Last year as we all (all who fished there) Know was awesome for walleye, this year was tough, only landed a few, NO keepers, No where near last year.... what gives? |

Thanks...... Yea, I usually use those too, but have been sorting to live bait, Alewives, shiners, crawlers, Berkley Alive Leeches. Normally troll too but since the recent cool down have taken a different approach. gonna try this Thur or Fri as a last ditch effort for the year. wish me luck... |

My next guess would be that theyre stocking too little fish in there or that the fish arent surviving/reproducing that well. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

The 2 guys I've gone to Squantz with were there on Saturday.
Said they had a few hits and landed a 23" keeper. |

23" is a nice fish. Yea I think they have not been stocking very much in recent years ... idk... seems like walleyes might have a hard time (If they even do reproduce in squanz) I did'nt think they could... but may be wrong, heard reports in the spring of small eyes around 5-8 inches, might be stockers, but I didn't think they could reproduce in there any way.... am I wrong? |
