High tide for Bridgeport was schedule for 2:31pm Sunday so I headed down to the Fayerweather Island jetty. Got there around 1pm to find it choppy with a steady 10mph SE wind.

Didn't do too much casting along the Seaside Park side of the jetty and walked out to the main island casting in towards Black Rock Harbor where it was calmer. Stuck with the original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10 but never had a hit or follower. Saw a fisherman on his boat with rods rigged on the back but it looked like he wasn't getting into anything as he moved to a few different spots in the harbor.

Later once it was almost peak high tide, I headed over to the cannon and fished it for about 2 hours. The 2 usuals weren't there yet.

As the tide started turning, I hit 2 schoolies and lost 1. Had 2 hits also. Winds also died down to a light SE breeze.

As the tide kept heading out and sunset got closer, the 2 usuals came. They had their soft plastics ready.

I wasn't into much for a while as the 2 usuals were getting many hits and catching a few.

About an hour or 90 minutes after high tide, things picked back up for the Flat Rap. I was getting many hits, caught another 3, and lost 2. The usuals weren't into it like they were when they first got there. I got the lunker between the 3 of us which was a 19" 3 pound schoolie. Gave me a good tug on my medium light setup.

Once I landed the lunker and got 2 more hits in the same area, the usuals decided to call it a day. I kept casting out for a bit more after sunset but things quieted down. Hit the road around 4:45pm.

I've never fished from the shore like you guys... but it looks like it's a good time. I need to try it sometime...maybe in the spring I'll try to get down there and check it out. Nice fish.

LOL... I meant fishing the shore.. as in the beach/ocean/mouth of rivers in bridgeport... ha ha ha.. No, I certainly fish from the shore ...wish I had a boat of some sort! Even fishing off the shore in a boat would be even cooler. Just get me ON a body of water!!!!
