I wanted to take a ride in my boat, The Other Woman, Too, so NWDarkcloud (aka Bob) and I took her to Highland Lake, and putzed around from about 1:15 pm to 3:45 pm. The boat launch ramp is still servicable, even though the water level in the lake is down about three feet from its normal level:

We ran down the lake with the wind from the ramp to the south end at full throttle, but managed only 22 miles per hour. It turns out that I had the motor trimmed down way too far and we were plowing water. On the way back up the lake against the wind to the north end, I trimmed the motor up to just before we began to porpoise and we got up to 32 miles per hour. That was way more better. Wink I decided to fish the rocks along the north shore of the lake and headed toward the beach on the east end of the north cove. I threw a white five inch slow sinking Sebile Magic Swimmer toward the shore, while Bob just sat back and enjoyed the calm, sunny day. I still drive a foot pedal controlled trolling motor like a drunken sailor, so we zigzagged our way along the shore as I tried to avoid the boulders that were just under the surface of the water. The water temperature was 45 degrees and the water was clear down at least four feet. I got a flash from a chain pickerel near the boat when I paused my retrieve, so I began throwing more pauses into it. It quickly paid off, as I snag hooked a little chain pickerel in the right eye. Confused I wanted to get it back into the water as quickly as possible, so I didn't take a photo of it. However, I soon snag hooked another one, but this time just behind its right eye:

And then I got one that actually managed to bite the hook:

Bob finally tied on a Perch Rapala Countdown and made some casts as we made the turn at the beach and began heading back out of the cove along the south shore. However, clouds began to cover the sun and a brisk wind began to blow out of the west, and we both got cold hands. Nope, not used to that, yet. Wink Neither of us needed any convincing to get off of the water, and we quickly headed over to the Winsted Diner for some hot coffee and a hot pastrami sandwich.

Great to see you out in the new boat again. I laughed so hard when u said you said you were pushing water. The wake behind your boat must have been huge!

Should have gone to Batterson for a fall walleye try perhaps?

Or is it closed for the season over there?

Ya it was a great chance to get out of the house for a bit but DANG!!! that wind got chilly fast when the sun got low.
Rmflint even with my big old anchor butt in the boat it moves right along with surprisingly little wake. My boat pushes a much bigger wave

I got a 2006 G3 Eagle 165 with a 60 hp four stroke Yamaha outboard engine and a 55 pound thrust Minn Kota Maxxum trolling motor. I named her The Other Woman, Too.
