My son wanted to go fishing so we picked up some minnows and a few pike shiners and went down to the old power plant canaI in Haddam.
We got to the canal about 10:00 and it was pretty windy so I had some problems keeping anchored.
My son had a nice hit on a pike shiner but it turned out to be a catfish.
Not long after that he picked up a decent size crappie on a minnow
The wind was picking up which made it tough to fish.
We were about to leave when I got a nice hit on a pike shiner but missed the fish.
A few minutes after that, my son gets a bite and brings in a nice pike just under 33 inches.
We left right after that and were off the water by 1:00.
I thought we would get more action on the small minnows but not too bad for a few hours. |

Thanks. It's always a good time when you can get out there with your kids. Even if he does always catch more than me. |

Nice Pike! How was boat traffic? I know they had a tournament in the area that's why I didn't head down there this weekend. _________________ Steve |

I thought it would be crowded too. I knew about a tournament being there but they must have cancelled it.
There was only one other boat in there when we were there. |

Should be nice fishing in there as long as it stays ice-free. Headed to Pulaski this weekend, but will hopefully be back out there for a few more weeks afterward. Likely see a few of you as the bass crowd will die down but the piking will just get better. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.
