Hit Squantz with the same guys as last time. Arrived at the gate around 5:30pm to find the gate opened and then signs in the parking lot saying "Squantz Pond Closed". Cars were already parked there with 1 having 2 fishing rods in it so we headed over.
I couldn't do much casting cause the guy in charge said he was concerned about somebody noticing us fishing with those signs being up.
Tried casting the JSR-4 to the left of the jetty but hit bottom most of the time and picked up weeds. Tried casting with an original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-8 but never hit anything.
Capt Mike and Harvey stuck with live shiners from the beach. Mike landed 2 bullheads and one of Harvey's shiners had a small puncture from a trout.
We headed back to the car around 8:30pm[/code] |

I've always interpreted those signs as saying "Park Closed at Dusk (except to fishermen)." Then again, keeping a low profile and not causing disruptions helps all of us. I regularly fish Hanover and other places after dark, but have also taken the time to chat with the officers who typically patrol the area. They're largely concerned with drinking, vandalism, etc., and are used to seeing my truck. It's nice to see them swinging by every once and a while. It's usually all good til one a-hole causes a problem. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

These signs were more for post Sandy. Saw a few trees down with 2 areas of power lines down.
The signs didn't say "Park Closed at Dusk". They were orange road work signs on the ground saying "Squantz Pond Closed" with rope attached to each other.
The man in charge was more concerned about the rangers seeing us and our lights. |
