Hit Twin Brooks Park Thursday to check on my November hot spot. Arrived around 3pm and started off at the second pond on the right.
Lures I played with included firetiger Original Floater F-7, purpledescent Shallow Shad Rap SSR-7, yellow perch X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-6, and brown trout Jointed J-7. I was picking up lots of leaves and had 1 hit on the SSR-7.
Moved to another spot at that pond and had a pickerel follow the SSR-7 as I played topwater with it.
Next I made my way over to the cove of the large pond where 2 brooks feed in. Decided to stick with the SSR-7. Played topwater along a certain area that would usually produce this time of the year. Lost a largemouth and had a number of taps.
Then moved to my November hot spot. Continued playing topwater with the purpledescent SSR-7 and also tried a slow medium retrieve. Caught a 13 1/2" 1 pound largemouth and an 18 1/2" 1.4 pound pickerel while playing topwater. Lost 2 largemouths and what was either a small largemouth or decent yellow. Had a number of largemouths come up for it and a few hits on the slow steady retrieve.
Hit the road just after 5:30pm
The pickerel gave me a nice fight on my 5' 6" Ugly Stick combo. It was a healthy fish that came darting out of lilies like the way you'd see a huge pike come shooting for a smaller pike or walleye you're reeling in.
The largemouth felt more like a 2 or 3 pounder while fighting it.
